Wragge & Co awarded Big Tick accreditation at Awards for Excellence 2011

Wragge & Co has been awarded a national Big Tick accreditation at Business in the Community's (BITC) Awards for Excellence 2011.

Scooping the award in the 'Work Inclusion' category for its work supporting homeless people overcome barriers to employment, judges praised the firm for its evidence of engagement throughout the business and for "excellent management processes".

The award recognises Wragge & Co's work supporting Business Action on Homelessness (BAOH) clients in workshops, work placements and job coaching. This involves Wragge & Co people across the firm giving practical guidance on body language, interview techniques and confidence-building, as well as invaluable experience in the workplace.

Wragge & Co's head of corporate responsibility said: "We are committed to community investment projects and to be recognised as a leader in this area is a fantastic result. The success of the programmes relies on the support from people across the firm. In 2009-10 our volunteers spent 358 hours helping BAOH clients. We want to keep making strides in this area, so we've set the target of offering work placements for 20 homeless people by April 2012."

BITC's National Awards for Excellence recognise and celebrate organisations whose programmes demonstrate the positive impact of a responsible business. With more than 850 members, BITC is a charity that aims to mobilise business for good. Wragge & Co is also part of BITC's May Day Network, the UK's largest collection of businesses committed to tackling climate change.

Wragge & Co first invested in a formal corporate responsibility programme in 2001. Since then, the programme has evolved to focus on four core areas: community investment, people, environment and external partners.

This latest win follows Wragge & Co celebrating its 11th consecutive year in the UK's 50 Best Workplaces list - the only law firm to feature. The Pensions team also won the Pensions Law Firm title at the Pension & Investment Provider Awards in May for the second year running. Last week the firm's Healthcare team was crowned 'Legal Adviser of the Year' at the Health Investor Awards 2011.
