Wragge & Co LLP has advised Stirling Mortimer Limited on launching a fund worth up to £100 million by securing Financial Services Authority (FSA) approval of the fund's prospectus.

The Stirling Mortimer No.8 Fund UK Land is listed on the Channel Islands Stock Exchange (CISX) and opened to investors on 25 May 2009. It is the first time the investment manager has entered the UK market with an FSA-approved prospectus.

Corporate partner Kevin Jones led the team with assistance from regulatory specialist Penny Sanders and solicitor Suzette Shipton. The team worked closely with directors Philip Bowman and Tim Clink at Stirling Mortimer.

Phil Bowman at Stirling Mortimer said of Wragge & Co: "We are delighted with the efficient and very "hands-on" service allied to the level of knowledge in the subject matter. The granting of FSA prospectus approval has dramatically raised the profile of our product not only with independent financial advisers and authorised individuals but also the clients they are presenting to."

Kevin Jones said: "Financial services regulation is an extremely complex area, requiring in-depth technical knowledge. We have the ability to get to grips with the detail and achieve our clients' commercial objectives. FSA approval of the fund's prospectus will enable Stirling Mortimer to diversify its own funds portfolio and enhance its reputation in the market. We look forward to working with it on future funds offerings."

The new fund is aimed at the UK public, sophisticated investors and high-net worth individuals. It is offered through a network of IFAs. Investment opportunities are focused on distressed land in the UK.
