Wragge & Co Pensions team wins new trustee client
11.03.09
Wragge & Co LLP Pensions team has been appointed to advise the trustees of the newly-formed Rheidol 2008 Pension Scheme.
The Rheidol 2008 Pension Scheme is a new defined benefits scheme created for Rheidol hydro-electricity power station, owned by Stratkraft Energy Ltd. Following a €4.5 billion asset swap agreement between German utility E.ON and Norwegian state-owned power company Stratkraft Group, active members transferred out of the E.ON UK Group Electricity Supply Pension Scheme.
Pensions partner Glyn Ryland and director Paul Carberry will advise trustees of the new scheme on all pensions legal issues. The team will work closely with Adrian Harris, chairman of the board of trustees.
Glyn Ryland said: "Our reputation for offering bespoke advice and working with our clients to achieve the best results enabled us to secure this win. We look forward to building a strong relationship with the pensions trustees on this new scheme."
Adrian Harris said: "I am very much looking forward to working with Wragge & Co again. I have worked with both Glyn and Paul on several occasions in the past. They both have solid experience of the Electricity Supply Pension Scheme and the 'protected person' Regulations and will provide excellent support to the trustees of the scheme."
Rheidol is a 54MW, eight-turbine hydropower station near Aberystwyth in Wales. It is the only UK-based hydropower station owned by the Stratkraft Group. Stratkraft is a leading provider of renewable energy in Europe, specialising in hydropower, wind power, gas power and district heating.
Wragge & Co's 35-lawyer Pensions team advises scheme sponsors, trustees and international clients on pension schemes of all sizes. Named European Pensions Firm of the Year at the European Pensions Awards, the team is regarded as one of the UK's top-tier pensions practices.
