Wragge & Co secures place on MoD's major projects legal panel
09.02.10
Wragge & Co LLP has been re-appointed to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) major projects legal panel. Under a four-year term, the firm will advise on major public private partnership (PPP) and private finance initiative (PFI) projects.
Partner Stephen Kenny led the successful team of PFI and defence experts, which comprised partners Michael Whitehouse, David Hamlett and Jane Pittaway.
Stephen said: "We have advised the MoD since 1996. Our track record in delivering highly complex and ground-breaking projects with commercially-sound, innovative advice was integral to this re-appointment. The team's sector focus and strength in depth were also key factors. We look forward to a continued successful partnership."
The team's previous work for the MoD includes helping to seal its landmark CVF Aircraft Alliance project. A multi-billion project to build the UK's next generation of aircraft carriers, it involved the first alliancing contract to deliver a large public sector project.
In 2007, the team closed the £1.2 billion Future Provision of Marine Services PFI contract. It also advised on the MoD's £1.15 billion project for the redevelopment, management and operation of facilities at the Northwood Tri-Service Command Headquarters site.
Wragge & Co joins Simmons & Simmons, Field Fisher Waterhouse, Shepherd and Wedderburn, Pinsent Masons, Denton Wilde Sapte and Mills & Reeve on the panel.
Wragge & Co's 27-strong team dedicated to PFI/PPP projects advises government departments, public authorities, banks and contractors in both the UK and internationally. A cross-firm Aerospace and Defence team provides commercial, sector-focused advice to a range of clients including Goodrich and QinetiQ.
