Wragge & Co LLP has won Europe's largest privately-owned technology group, Specialist Computer Holdings, as a new client. The national firm has been appointed as full-service legal adviser following a presentation led by managing partner Ian Metcalfe.
Ian Metcalfe said: "We're very pleased to be working with SCH. It's an organisation we admire and can identify with – an ambitious national and international business with strong Birmingham roots. It is also a superb addition to our client base, in line with our strategy of building lasting relationships with major private and public sector organisations. We put together an impressive team of experts from a range of core disciplines and showed SCH the high standard of advice and attention it could expect from us."
SCH CEO Sir Peter Rigby said: "We are pleased to keep our UK legal services support requirements with a major Birmingham firm and look forward to a successful relationship."
The Wragge & Co team comprised IT partner Sally Mewies, corporate partner Baljit Chohan, IT litigation partner Sian Llewellyn, employment associate Richard Jones and finance specialist Edward Sunderland. They will work closely with UK legal head Jennifer Van Tiggelen. Edward Sunderland and asset finance partner Paula Laird have already completed a first matter for SCH, a €150 million securitisation deal.
SCH provides large European based corporate and government organisations with desktop services, networks and products. Founded in 1975, it now employs over 6,000 skilled people operating from 80 offices in key cities across nine main European countries.
Wragge & Co is a major UK commercial law firm advising FTSE 350 companies, government departments and other public sector bodies, and international blue-chip organisations. Highlights from the past six months include advising on the privatisation of Kenya and Uganda's railways, a £400 million real estate transaction for The Peabody Fund and the £1.5 billion sale of telecoms giant The Caudwell Group.
