Wragge & Co City Challenge raises £25,000 for BSWA
25.05.07
Wragge & Co LLP has raised £25,000 for Birmingham & Solihull Women's Aid. It threw down the gauntlet to Birmingham's business community to sign up for the first ever Wragge & Co City Challenge. The event saw 19 teams fight long and hard to complete a series of tasks testing mental ingenuity and physical dexterity.
BSWA Chief Executive Maureen Connolly said: "Birmingham & Solihull Women's Aid really appreciates the support and participation of Wragge & Co and the other teams involved. The money raised will make a real difference to the safety of women and children in Birmingham experiencing domestic violence."
Wragge & Co senior partner Quentin Poole said: "We have a strong track record for working with charity and community groups but this is biggest and most ambitious fund-raising event we've organised. It is an incredible achievement. I'd like to thank everyone whose efforts behind the scenes ensured the day went smoothly and, of course, those who took part, provided a raffle prize or sponsored a team. You have made a major contribution to the work BSWA can do."
A team from law firm Hammonds won the challenge, with professional services firm Rabjohns coming second and Sanctuary Housing in third place. Other organisations taking part included Wilson Bowden, KPMG, Mitie, DTZ, Malmaison, BSWA, Baker Tilly, Lloyds TSB, The Radisson, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Wragge & Co.
The Wragge & Co City Challenge saw niche team development specialist City Challenge set a series of brainteaser challenges based on the history and geography of the city. Other challenges included abseiling from the top of Malmaison's Mailbox roof, completing a lap of Teamworks Karting's track and escaping from Warwick Adventure Sport's 'spider's web'.
A number of organisations offered their services in support of the Wragge & Co City Challenge. They are the Ackers Trust, Teamworks Kartin, Malmaison, Warwick Adventure Sport, City Challenge, Indian Tapas, Connolly's Wine Merchants, Castle Vale School, HSS Hire and Mitie.
