The specialist regulatory litigation team works as part of the 175-strong Dispute Resolution group and comprises experts in health and safety, environmental, trading standards and food safety.
Acting for corporate clients, insurers, local authorities and other public bodies, the team provides advice and support on all aspects of health and safety and contentious environmental issues.
The team has a hands-on approach to all cases. It takes the view that it can't defend effectively without understanding the client's business and has the resource to provide immediate advice whenever and wherever needed.
Described by clients as a 'first-class company to deal with' citing its 'professionalism and consideration', the team designs and implements dispute resolution strategies with the aim of minimising adverse publicity and cost caused by an investigation or prosecution.
Investigations can be lengthy and for many clients this will be their first encounter with the process. Guiding clients through all stages of an investigation, whether or not it leads to prosecution, the team provides practical and pragmatic advice. In many cases its experts work with clients to complete a report on what went wrong and steps to be implemented going forward. These reports have been used proactively to side-step prosecution.
Regulations are complex and ever-changing. Mindful of this, the team produces regular news briefings for clients and contacts on the latest changes and compliance issues.
