Wragge & Co LLP's real estate and construction experts have advised Birds Eye on the relocation of its headquarters. A team led by partner Jack Jacovou advised Birds Eye on its ten-year lease agreement with Scottish Widows. The frozen food giant's new headquarters will be a 35,000 sq ft building at Bedfont Lakes Office Park near Staines, Middlesex. The building will accommodate 200 employees. Other tenants at the 250-acre office park include IBM, SAP, Cisco and Lindt.

The Wragge & Co team, comprising real estate solicitor Louise Hill and construction associate Simon Colegate, advised Birds Eye on the negotiation of its new office lease. They worked closely with Group Legal Counsel and Company Secretary Anthony Barratt. Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer acted for BLBP3 Limited and BLBP4 Limited, part of the Scottish Widows Group.

Jack Jacovou said: "This is the first property-related deal we have completed for Birds Eye, already a key client for the firm. Working closely with its legal counsel, we were able to ensure that the lease negotiations ran smoothly and quickly."

Birds Eye, part of Birds Eye Iglo Group, is Europe's largest frozen food producer, generating sales of over €1 billion last year and employing around 3,000 employees across Europe. It is owned by private equity firm Permira Funds, who acquired the company in a £1.15 billion deal with Unilever in November 2006. Wragge & Co was appointed to work for Birds Eye on all of its general work in January 2007.

Wragge & Co's Real Estate Group is one of the largest full service real estate teams in the UK. It advises major private and public organisations on matters ranging from asset management to environment; planning to tax; and litigation to regeneration.
