Wragge & Co LLP Real Estate Group has advised new client the Walls Group on a landmark redevelopment in Manchester.

Real estate partner Huw Roberts, associate Mark Blair and solicitor Caroline Allen advised the Walls Group on its £20 million acquisition of London Scottish House from Glengall Estates Limited. The team also advised on the subsequent short-term leaseback to London Scottish Bank plc.

The Walls Group is to redevelop the central Manchester site into a high-profile office development targeted at blue chip corporate occupiers. Wragge & Co's Construction Team has been instructed to advise on the project.

Kevin Carron, Director at the Walls Group, said: "We appointed Wragge & Co to complete this acquisition as they have a strong track record in dealing with this type of development. Their speed of delivery and commercial approach ensured the acquisition was completed on schedule."

Caroline Allen said: "It has been great to be involved with the Walls Group on this deal, and we look forward to acting on the development of this important Manchester site. We are committed to assisting Walls on all its future UK projects."

The Walls Group comprises Walls Developments, Walls Construction, Walls Holdings and Nelicott Construction. It is one of the most successful property groups in Ireland and has offices in Dublin, Cork and Kent. This is the first time the Walls Group has instructed Wragge & Co.

The Bank of Ireland provided the finance for the acquisition. It was advised by Eversheds in the UK and Matheson Ormsby Prentice in Dublin. Land Law acted for Glengall Estates Limited and London Scottish Bank plc.
