19.04.07
Wragge & Co LLP has boosted its pensions credentials with the appointment of a new partner. Paul Feathers has been promoted to the firm's partnership, taking the total number of pensions partners to six. He will be based in the firm's London office.
Having trained at Wragge & Co, Paul has been integral to the team's evolution into one of the UK's top-tier pensions practices, helping the team forge its London presence. According to head of pensions Glyn Ryland, the appointment caps a successful 12 months of new client wins and headline instructions, and prepares the team for future growth.
Glyn Ryland said: "Paul is an excellent pensions lawyer and will make a first-rate partner. He has impressed clients and colleagues alike with his drive and dedication, helping establish Wragge & Co's reputation as a leading firm for pensions. This reputation rests on the efforts of one team focused on providing the highest level of technically excellent, creative, commercial legal advice. It is an approach that clients like and we intend to build on."
Paul provides a full range of pensions law advice to corporate and trustee clients including the Rolls-Royce Pension Fund, Resolution Group Pensions Scheme and the Baird Group Pension Scheme. An experienced adviser, he played a lead role advising the trustees of the MG Rover Group Pension Scheme in the first high-profile insolvency to involve the Pension Protection Fund.
Paul Feathers said: "During the past five years, I've seen the Pensions Team take a massive leap forward. We've shown the market that our ambition is backed by the ability to deliver. A sixth partner in a strong team confirms our dedication to providing a service to both corporate and trustee clients which is partner-led, relationship-based and results-driven."
Wragge & Co's 30-lawyer pensions practice operates as a single team of experts from offices in London and Birmingham, advising employers, trustees and institutional clients on a full range of non-contentious and contentious pensions issues. New clients won over the past 12 months include the trustees of AMEC's £1 billion plus pension schemes and Britannia Building Society Pension Scheme's trustees.
With other clients including EMAP, Philips Pensions Trustees Limited and Steria, the team is widely recognised as one of the UK's top-tier pensions practices. As of 1 May 2007, the team's six partners are Glyn Ryland, Richard Black, Vivien Cockerill, Peter Shave, Jason Coates and Paul Feathers.
Paul is one of two new partners promoted in 2007.
