This four-strong dedicated Funds & Financial Services team includes lawyers with senior in-house experience. Its experts advise UK and overseas financial services providers in the retail and wholesale sectors. Clients include APN Funds Management, NFU Mutual, SBJ Benefit Consultants and Thomas Miller.
Typical work includes advising on funds and other FSA regulated transactions, reorganisations, authorisations and compliance. On regulatory issues the team advises on product designs, relationships with third parties and the impact on corporate work.
For retail clients, the team advises on Financial Services Market Act regulatory matters, offering full service from guidance through the Office of Fair Trading licensing process to the creation of loan/hire documentation. Its experts also advise on marketing, product development and data protection.
The team is currently dealing with increased demand on the application of EU and FSA regulation and support for the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive implementation projects.
International credentials include working with Australian-listed portfolio administration provider Praemium on the UK launch of its ground-breaking product. Part of the advice included adapting the product to be compliant with FSA regulation. Praemium company secretary and general counsel Cathryn Nolan said of the team 'most importantly to us, the team aren't bound to a conventional approach'.
Wragge & Co's Funds and Financial Services team is a member of the Customer Information System working group of the Financial Markets Law Committee.
