Wragge & Co LLP has won a place on Wolverhampton Development Company's (WDC) panel of legal advisers following a competitive tender.
Formed in 2007 to act as a catalyst for growth, investment and aspiration in Wolverhampton, WDC aims to attract and grow businesses to create 30,000 new jobs by 2031. Its plans include major regeneration projects, transforming Wolverhampton's city centre through the delivery of 6,000 new homes and the 226-acre i54 Technology Park.
Real estate partners Mark Chester, Andrew Thomas and Stephen Sellers led a Wragge & Co pitch team comprising specialists in planning, regeneration, commercial and IP. Having secured its panel appointment, the team has started work and is currently advising on matters relating to several key initiatives central to WDC's development plans.
Mark Chester said: "With a track record that includes advising developers, investors, contractors and local authorities on large-scale, complex regeneration projects, Wragge & Co has a strong reputation in this sector. This experience means we are able to anticipate and resolve issues, enabling our client to focus on its main objectives. We're looking forward to working alongside WDC."
Will Evans, WDC development director, said:. "We chose Wragge & Co because it has in-depth knowledge of regeneration issues and experts in all relevant disciplines. The team showed it understood what we wanted to achieve and how it could help us get there. WDC is 100% dedicated to delivering opportunity for the people of Wolverhampton. It's therefore key to have the best possible advisors to help us to achieve this."
Following their competitive process, WDC appointed two firms: Wragge & Co and Shoosmiths, to its legal panel.
With experts in planning, regeneration, commercial development and residential development, Wragge & Co's 200-lawyer, full-service Real Estate group is helping deliver the Government's sustainable communities agenda. Alongside PFI/PPP and construction experts, it advises local authorities, housing associations and developers on a range of projects. These include a £1.8 billion housing-led regeneration partnership in Solihull and projects in London, Manchester and Birmingham.
