Wragge & Co appoints new construction partner
16.04.08
Wragge & Co LLP has signalled its commitment to the construction, energy and infrastructure sectors with the appointment of new partner Paul Green. Non-contentious construction expert Paul is promoted to the national firm's partnership from 1 May 2008.
Paul handles a range of construction projects for major corporates, developers, local authorities and contractors. He works closely with projects, real estate and regeneration colleagues to provide clients with top-quality construction law advice and support on large-scale, complex projects. Examples include advising E.ON on its deal to develop one of the world's largest combined heat and power stations in Kent.
Simon Baylis, head of the six-partner Construction team, said: "Outstanding technical skill and commitment to excellent client service make Paul a first-choice lawyer for clients undertaking complex construction projects. He has proven adept at building and developing relationships, understanding clients' business objectives and providing commercial advice to suit."
Paul is an integral part of Wragge & Co's cross-firm Energy & Infrastructure team, where he advises on large-scale power generation projects. He advised E.ON UK on a series of wind farm projects and is advising both developers and contractors on biomass projects in the UK. He also acted for BP plc on building a bioethanol plant in Hull as part of a $400 million biofuels investment deal with Associated British Foods and DuPont.
Derek Goodban, head of the Energy & Infrastructure team, said: "Paul is highly regarded in the energy sector for the expertise, experience and enthusiasm he brings to clients' projects. His drive and ability to deliver complex, cutting edge projects has contributed to Wragge & Co's growing reputation as a leading adviser to clients in the energy sector."
Wragge & Co's 39-lawyer Construction team brings together non-contentious and contentious specialists to advise developers, blue-chip companies, local authorities and many of the UK's leading contractors on deals, projects and disputes. This 'heavyweight team' (according to Chambers & Partners) advised St. Modwen Developments Limited on the creation of a new urban village, the first development of its kind in Wales, which will include about 4000 homes, four schools, medical, recreational and community facilities and small business areas.
Construction lawyers are part of a firm-wide practice dedicated to energy and infrastructure matters. This team comprises projects, regulatory, finance, real estate and corporate experts providing sector-focused practical, commercial solutions. The team advised International Finance Corporation and the Kenyan Government on the privatisation of Kenya's railway. It also acted for both the Commission for Energy Regulation and the Northern Ireland Authority for Utility Regulation on launching the Single Electricity Market for Ireland.
Wragge & Co has promoted a further eight partners throughout the rest of the firm, demonstrating its commitment to key markets. New partners will join Construction, IP, Human Resources, Corporate and Finance Litigation.
