Legislative changes affecting development and refurbishment projects

From 6 April 2008 all construction projects (including refurbishment and fitting out works) with a value over £300,000 will trigger the requirement to produce a site waste management plan in accordance with the new Site Waste Management Plans Regulations. These new regulations require a client and principal contractor to compile, update and adhere to a site waste management plan. Additionally, the transitional period under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 expires on 5 April. After this date duty holders have to ensure that they comply with the requisite competency requirements.
