Wragge & Co LLP has promoted eight new directors. The appointments, which follow a robust financial performance and the promotion of nine new partners, take effect from 1 July 2008. According to senior partner Quentin Poole, the promotions cap a year of sustained growth and are a significant investment in the firm's future.

The new directors represent Wragge & Co's core practice areas – corporate, real estate, human resources, dispute resolution and finance, projects and technology – taking the total number of directors to 27. They are Paul Carberry (pensions), Ed Colreavy (real estate), Kathy Garside (commercial litigation), Patrick Garner (construction), Andrew Glaze (corporate), Claire Hughes (employment), Kate Swaine (IP) and Daniel Wood (construction).

Quentin Poole said: "These promotions reward excellent performance, underline our commitment to full-service law and are an investment in high-calibre lawyers whose drive and ambition will help take the firm forward. Each of the eight new directors has demonstrated their dedication to providing clients with the best creative, commercial legal advice."

Introduced in 2005, the director role recognises associates who have an exceptional level of experience and skill, and are making an outstanding contribution to the business. Responsibilities can include managing client relationships, business development or leading a particular practice area.

This year growth in all key areas saw Wragge & Co increase turnover by 11.5% to £125.5 million. Other highlights include naming dispute resolution specialist Nicola Mumford as the firm's new London managing partner. Wragge & Co also announced it had signed up to new office premises in Birmingham. It will move into Two Snowhill, part of the city's £500 million gateway site being developed by Ballymore Properties, in 2011.

The firm boosted its reputation as a great place to work, appearing in the Financial Times's 50 best large workplaces in Europe. It is the only UK law firm to appear in the list of Europe's top employers. Wragge & Co also retained its places in national rankings – the FT's 50 best workplace in the UK and the Sunday Times's 100 best companies to work for.
