This cross-firm team has a strong track record in large central and local government projects, smoothing the decision-making process and helping design and implement multi-disciplinary projects. Its outsourcing, commercial, employment, healthcare, IT, IP, defence, infrastructure, energy, public procurement and projects experts provide a wide range of advice to UK and international public sector organisations.
This diversity of expertise is reflected in the team's appointment to advise on all eight panel areas under the Office of Government Commerce's buying solutions' Catalist Legal Services Framework Agreement. The areas covered by the panels are IT, telecoms and e-commerce, property and real estate, construction, employment and pensions, corporate and finance, and IP. Being appointed to the major projects panel makes the team a preferred adviser to public sector bodies on complex projects worth more than £100 million.

A broad spectrum of work includes acting for both public and private sector clients – anything from advising the Ministry of Defence on a multi-billion pound procurement project to helping PA Consulting launch a new public sector online marketplace system. This 360° perspective ensures the team understands the pressures facing both sides and is able to offer a rounded view.
The team is at the forefront of developments in healthcare provision, delivering a bespoke service based on a clear understanding of the commercial priorities and practical requirements of the sector. It played a lead role in two key government-backed programmes - advising the Department of Health, Acute Trusts and Primary Care Trusts on the Independent Sector Treatment Centre and Innovation in Primary Care Contracting programmes. Central government head and healthcare specialist Bleddyn Rees is described by Legal 500 as 'bringing invaluable regulatory experience to the practice'.
Other leading individuals include Stephen Kenny who is 'highly recommended for public sector project work', outsourcing specialist David Hamlett has 'significant experience' while Simon Taylor is 'recommended for competition and procurement advice' (all Legal 500).
Clients include Ministry of Defence, Department of Health, National Audit Office and Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.
