Wragge & Co wins place on new government legal services panel
26.06.07
Wragge & Co LLP has won a place on OGCbuying.solutions' Catalist Legal Services Framework Agreement. The firm has been accredited in all lots following a competitive tender.
Catalist Legal Services is a framework agreement set up by OGCbuying.solutions, an executive agency of the Office of Government Commerce in the Treasury. It provides a central list of law firms pre-approved to advise public sector bodies on a range of matters. Catalist Legal Services replaces L-Cat, the government's previous legal services panel. The four-year appointments begin from 1 July.
Wragge & Co is one of nine firms to secure accreditation in both the full commercial and major projects lots. The full commercial panel covers a range of matters including IT, telecoms and e-commerce, property and real estate, construction, employment and pensions, corporate and finance, and IP. Wragge & Co's appointment to the major projects panel makes it a preferred adviser to public sector bodies on complex projects worth more than £100 million.
Partners Bleddyn Rees, Sarah Sasse and Mark Greenburgh led the team pitching for the roles. Projects specialist Bleddyn Rees will manage the Catalist relationship.
Bleddyn Rees said: "With expertise across a range of legal disciplines matched by experience in sectors as diverse as health, local government, regeneration and housing, we have a strong track record for high-profile public sector instructions. Securing roles on the two lead panels and qualifying for the whole range of work available enhances this reputation."
Public sector work is a growth area for Wragge & Co. A broad spectrum of work includes advising the Ministry of Defence on a major multi-billion pound procurement project, supporting Amey in its bid for a £2.2 billion highways project in Birmingham, helping PA Consulting launch the public sector online marketplace system Zanzibar, a £215 million local authority bond issue and a £300 million corporate partnership for Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.
The firm is at the forefront of developments in healthcare provision, regeneration, PFI and outsourcing. In the health sector, it played a lead role in two key government-backed programmes – advising the Department of Health, Acute Trusts and Primary Care Trusts on the Independent Sector Treatment Centre and Innovation in Primary Care Contracting programmes.
Strong real estate and construction practices ensure that Wragge & Co has become a leading name for regeneration projects, advising public and private sector clients on mixed-use developments throughout the UK. Highlights include a £1.8 billion scheme in Solihull as well as projects for Croydon Council, MJ Gleeson, Southwark Council, Bradford Metropolitan District Council and Arsenal Football Club.
